Day four of cycle number eight

Monday was day one of cycle 8 and I did not post because it was routine, or so I thought until today. Andrea had told me during our visit on Monday that my creatine level looked good as did the rest of my blood work so I expected the Aredia infusion today to be shorter than the one on day 4 of the last cycle. But if it was shorter it was only by a few minutes. Erline had the Aredia hooked up before I got the Velcade shot minutes before 9:00 and she had the timer on the Aredia drip running soon thereafter and it wasn't finished until about 1:15 or 1:20, but she had warned me that it would run for 4 hours because they continue to be concerned about my kidney function.

I asked for a printout of the Monday labwork because the Monday printouts do not show the Myeloma markers and I found that they determined the markers on July 5 and on the 19th even though Dr. Tricot had said that the markers would only be run on the 1st day of each cycle. And when I got home I compared them with the results from the June 16 bloodwork (Kappa free light chains at 8.82 mg/dL) and found that the Kappa free light chains had gone up to 29.4 mg/dL on July 5 and then down to 13.2 mg/dL on Monday. This kind of fluctuation has been going on right along and I won't be seeing Dr. Tricot until the beginning of cycle 10 nearly a month and a half away to ask him about the fluctuation.

No progress on planning the10th celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary; just waiting for call backs from potential caterers. The people I used in 2000 have changed their name but are still at the same address. I liked their service and prices and am hoping they will call back and can provide the same sort of service. There are several other catering companies, but if or when they post their prices on their web pages the range is too great to even guess how they would compare.

No news about Emma's leg; the CellCept seems to be working to keep the blistering away and we finally got Dr. Hull's office to contact Humana for prior approval of the drug and then got a nice refund from Costco where we had obtained 2 prescriptions at the retail price. Emma has continued to take 2 of the 500mg pills each morning and 1 at night and goes in Monday for another blood draw to monitor to monitor the medication's effect her immune system.
