Pharmacy did not mess up prescription

In Monday's post I reported that the pharmacy short changed me on dexamethazone pills, but before going there yesterday to complain I asked Malene, one of the Infusion nurses, whether she could explain why I received only enough pills for one cycle and she said that the next cycle will be the 12th one and Dr. Tricot may change everything when I see him at the end of the cycle. I will not have the battery of tests that I have had prior to the end of the 3rd, 6th, and 9th cycles, which were followed by an appointment with Dr. Tricot in the first part of the following week. I will see Dr. Tricot at the end of cycle 12 at which time he will tell me what he has in mind for me during the next year and the battery of tests will follow that meeting. She mentioned several possible schedules, but didn't mention the one that Dr. Tricot gave to Nancy in response to her question about what will come after cycle 12, which was that he may have me go through 12 more cycles. If he does that I hope he cuts out the thalidomide because that is a budget breaker. I have had one refill and will need another before I see him and the refills are manageable ($270+- each), but a new prescription in 2011 will be more than $4,200 for only 28 capsules. He prescribed the thalidomide because my progress had slowed and he hoped that the thalidomide in addition to the chemo drugs I am receiving would help.

The session at the clinic yesterday was long because I had an Aredia infusion, which always takes 4 hours or a little more, and they always tell me that it takes so long because my kidney function is still somewhat impaired and a faster infusion could cause some damage. I started earlier than I had on Monday, experienced no traffic problems and got to the clinic about 5 minutes early for my appointment at 9:00, but I didn't leave until about 1:40 so it was a long day.

Emma has been going to her aquasize class whenever she doesn't have a morning conflict such as bridge and tells me that her leg feels really good while she is in the pool. But it still stiffens up when she sits on the couch or on the stool at our counter for any length of time and she has to flex the ankle before she can walk. It has been more than a year now and we are both disappointed that it has taken so long to regain full use of her leg.
