Light traffic today on dry roads and I got to the hospital about 5 minutes early only to find the BMT clinic crowded and there was a lot of waiting to do. If it weren't for all the waiting a visit to the clinic would be an almost enjoyable experience. Once my vitals were taken there were no chairs in the Infusion Room and I had to sit on one of the beds in the back of the clinic to wait for a line to be placed in my port so that I could be given the Velcade infusion. When the waiting ended Laurie accomplished all of this in a couple of minutes and told me that I could leave, which I did after a stop at the pharmacy to pick up a prescription that Humana would not allow refilling of a week ago. It is a drug that I take Mon., Wed., Fri. every week and the last time Humana allowed it to be filled I only received 18 pills so that when I went in a week ago I had 3 pills on hand and Humana would not allow refilling until I only had 2 pills remaining. I was told that I could return last Tuesday to get the refill, but saw no need to make a special trip. Today I got a refill of 30 pills, which will last 10 weeks and beyond when I see Dr. Tricot again.
The changes in medication and scheduling that were prescribed by Dr. Tricot on the visit December 20 are by now having a very noticeable effect. My left leg is much stronger than it was and I can go up and down stairs with little or no support. I had not noticed that the left leg was significantly smaller in diameter than the right leg until I visited Dr. Kuo on January 5 when he wrote me a prescription for physical therapy to be taken to any therapist. I have not done that yet because I have resumed walking and am gradually picking up speed as I walk and I much prefer walking to exercising with equipment in a gym.
