One might think that with a holiday and probably little or no student traffic the trip to the BMT clinic might be easy today, but one would be wrong. One lane traffic all the way from the junction of I-215 and Foothill Boulevard to the turnoff to the University because of re-paving it part of the way and then for the Pioneer Days Marathon and 10K run. I left home about 9:25 and was 5 minutes late for my 10:00 AM appointment. I expected my blood pressure to be elevated as a result, but it was a near normal of 128/58 and I was not plagued by any other delays. Today was scheduled for an Aredia infusion, which lasted just about 2 hours, but the kitchen was closed because of the holiday so there were no sandwiches offered. Malene told me that my Thalidomide schedule for the near future will be one week off and 3 weeks on after I resume taking it Thursday and I will take just one 50mg capsule each day. I am not sure there is any effect in the neuropathy in my extremities due to not taking the Thalidomide, but it has not gotten worse. The tingling sensation in my fingers is most noticeable in the 2 middle fingers on each hand and I do not find it bothersome. That in my feet is much more noticeable and is especially so when I lie in bed reading before going to sleep.
I went with Emma to see Dr. Curtis last Wednesday. He wrote a new prescription for the Mobic that he had previously given to her and said that the prescription would be good for a year and she could refill it as needed. But she should not take it continuously; just when she felt a real need for it and then for only 2 or 3 days in a row.
