Erratic weather has little effect on BMT visits

It snowed and rained all day yesterday and when Emma and I went out early this morning to clear the driveway in order to get the car out we found 7 inches of heavy snow in that part of the driveway that is not shaded by trees and we found the entrance to the driveway plowed almost closed by the County trucks. But we persevered and got to the clinic nearly 10 minutes early. Emma insisted on going with me because she expected the roads to be bad, but the snow was confined to our hill and we didn't even have wet roads once we got beyond Big Cottonwood Canyon. I could have gone in the pickup and thereby left the Lexus for her to take to her aquasize class but she insisted that I didn't have enough energy or strength to clean the lower driveway, which is probably the case.

The clinic visit was extraordinarily slow today; a huge contrast with last week when I was out before 11:00 and had my only wait at the pharmacy. Today we didn't leave the Infusion room until after 1:00; I had to wait until the bloodwork was reported and then had to wait much longer because some of the elements were questionable and had to be discussed with the PA before giving me the Velcade shot and she was busy with a bone marrow biopsy. When it was decided that I could have the Velcade there was another delay because my hemoglobin was low, which could be corrected by giving me a Procrit shot if their computer records showed the frequency of such shots was acceptable. I was given the Procrit and then after getting home I found in today's mail a letter from Humana denying "my" request for Procrit because "The information submitted does not meet Humana medical necessity guidelines for coverage." That may mean that I will have to pay for the Procrit shot, which is a Hospital administered drug and I have no idea how much it might cost. I have the right to appeal within 60 days Humana's denial and I will ask at the clinic next Monday if a clinic doctor will do the appealing.
