Changes at the registration desk; BMT clinic

I returned to the BMT clinic this morning after having had 2 weeks off and was surprised at the changes they had made in my absence.  Bernadette is no longer occupying one of the desks; she has departed to become an administrative assistant to one of the other doctors in the Huntsman Hospital.  They have erected barriers around two of the registration desks in order to provide more privacy for patients checking in, and they have added some more personnel to man the registration desks.  Perhaps because of the added helpers I had a minimal wait and did not have to go outside to the waiting area in the wide hallway.

Camille was my nurse today as she has been several other times.  We talked about our mutual bruises and pains from falls we have experienced and she reminded me that she had recommended that I go see Dr. Robert Tashjian at the University's Orthopedic Center because the therapy he has recommended for her has helped a lot.  So, after the blood draw and the wait for a report on the blood work prior to her giving me the Velcade infusion, I called his office and got an appointment for next Tuesday to see if he can reduce the pain I continue to have in my right shoulder.  If I take a Tylenol before going to bed I can sleep on my right side, but if I forget to do so it is quite painful to lie on my right side.

Some of the nurses who had been aware of my fall in the yard on April 5 and the resulting trip to the ER for treatment were curious about the damage to my left forearm.  I was able to unbutton my shirt and show them that the wound is entirely healed and I have no lingering pain or other after effects from the fall.  The arm is healthy enough that I am now able to resume doing the push ups that I have done first thing in the mornings prior to my 2 falls and I intend to resume going to the Silver Sneakers exercise classes at the Cottonwood Recreation Center.  I gained about a pound of unwanted weight each week following the January 30 fall and The walking I do around the block each day has only served to halt the gain and done nothing to reduce it.
