Crowd waiting outside registration desks today

My visit to the BMT clinic this morning was somewhat unusual in that I waited 15 minutes in the hallway waiting area this morning before being taken to the weight room by Kris, a nurse that I had not seen before, but who has been working elsewhere in the Huntsman Cancer Institute for quite some time.  Camille closely observed her activities throughout my visit including the weighing and height measurement.  I was then seated in chair number one in the Infusion Room next to Dennis, a former Pepsi delivery man who lives in Payson and has been coming to the BMT clinic for as long as I have been.  His wife always comes with him and they have been very friendly and usually ask about Emma's health and want to be remembered to her.  Kris placed the line in my port with Camille hovering nearby and they told me that the Velcade  should be up soon and I would be able to leave early. This was not the case because the Velcade was not brought by Craig until after Janet came around taking orders for sandwiches, which I declined because I still thought I would be leaving within minutes, but while they were preparing to do the Velcade, I told Camille about my appointment with Dr. Kuo on Thursday and the prescription he gave me to bring to the clinic on September 1.  She looked at it and said that inasmuch as they have the line in my port they could draw a vial of blood today for determining the TSH content and may be able to FAX the results to Dr. Kuo or I can call them tomorrow and have them send the results to me to be sent on by me.  This delayed my departure and I saw that Janet was still in the Infusion Room so I asked for a turkey sandwich that I could take home.

Both nurses noticed that both of my eyes appear puffy and red and wanted to know if I hve seen an eye doctor about my eyes.  So I told them about the tearing from my right eye that goes on all morning and sometimes into the late afternoon and that I have an appointment with the doctor tomorrow for a "procedure" that will relive the excess tearing by directing the tears back into the eye socket (?).  The doctor told me a year or so ago that I could have an operation that would correct the problem, but the use of 'operation' in his discussion scared me from even considering such an activity.

The respite from taking my "cocktail" of pills at 6:00am with all that water has made my sleeping habits much better.  Most nights I do not need to take any sleeping medication to get a good nights sleep.
