The visit to the hospital yesterday was for the purpose of more blood work and for a Neulasta shot, which is designed to force the stem cells from the bone marrow out into the circulating blood. The PA warned that there could be back and bone pain following the shot and she prescribed Oxycodone to combat the pain. She also prescribed Ambien to help me sleep. Well last night I did have pain, but the Oxychodone handled that very well. However 2 Ambien pills didn't allow me to get nearly enough sleep. And I had a fever all night; getting as high as 100 degrees in the middle of the night (if it gets to 100.5 I am to call the hospital and probably have to go in for treatment. Now down to 99 degrees. (Judy cut my hair off while we were in Colorado July 25.) Then this morning I had my first bout with nausea and tossed the grapefruit that I had eaten as part of my breakfast. After recovery I was able to eat a nectarine with a slice of toast and then later some yogurt, so the nausea is controlled after taking a couple of pills.
The next hospital visit will be at 10:00 AM tomorrow for more blood work, but no procedure as far as I know.

Ugh. I'm sorry to hear this, grandpa. I hope that you're feeling better soon.
