January 28 BMT clinic visit

I reminded the nurses at the clinic yesterday that Dr. Tricot had written in his letter of December 22 that I should receive an Aredia infusion once a month and I had not had one since November 27. So my visit was extended another 2 hours for the infusion and almost another hour with a change in medication at the pharmacy. I was due to run out of Acyclovir before my next visit so I asked Jennifer about getting a refill in pill form rather than the syrup I have been taking. She got Abby to sign a prescription for a different anti-viral drug in pill form (that I would only have to take one of each day instead of twice a day) because they no longer can get the Acyclovir in pill form. The pharmacy started to fill the new prescription, but then called Humana and learned the new drug is not approved. I was told I could get it but I would have to pay much more, $ 1,200 instead of the $ 5.00 I pay for liquid Acyclovir, so I came home with more syrup.

I asked for a print out of the lab results from Monday's visit and found that the Kappa free light chains that Dr. Tricot follows had gone down to 39 mg/dL from the 43 mg/dL value of January 11. I talked to Abby about my impression that this marker fluctuates up and down but probably would have a downward slope if plotted on a graph and she said they could plot it for me, but I am going to make an attempt to plot it myself.

Emma hasn't gone back to the aquasize class yet even though Dr. Curtis told her she could do so when we saw him Wednesday. She thinks she has lost so much weight that her swim suits won't fit her.
