Slow Aredia infusion

Another spring snowstorm today, which left no snow on the roads but slowed the traffic to somewhat slower than the speed limit. So the drive to the clinic took more than the 30 minutes that I normally allot for it, but I did leave early enough to let the valet parking handle the car and got into the waiting room by the time of my appointment. There were about 2 inches of snow on the top of the car when I left to come home and about 3 1/2 inches on our deck when I got home, but only wet or even dry roads. The Aredia was ready for me when I was taken into the Infusion room but I had to wait for the Velcade to be delivered from the pharmacy and the infusion did not begin until just before 10:00. When Scott hooked up the Aredia he told me that the infusion would take about 3.7 hours and I asked him why so long. He then told me that the chemo affects the kidneys (and the liver) and because my kidney function is somewhat impaired they don't want to further harm them by infusing the Aredia faster. With a half hour wait at the pharmacy for 2 prescriptions to be filled I didn't get home until about 1:30. I did get a "free" ham sandwich for lunch because of the wait, but brought half of it home with me.

My dry cough has gone away and the Spring allergies that I usually get seem to have been suppresed by the snowy weather we have had in April. I generally feel good, but the effort in shoveling the snow so that we can go out in the car this evening left me tired. So my energy level is not back to normal by any means. Abby (the PA that I learned on Monday had concluded that I had a touch of pneumoniaa the previous Monday) passed by my chair this morning and asked me how I am feeling and I told her that I feel quite good and I do until I exert myself.
