Day 18 of Cycle numer 7

Today was a very short stay in the Infusion Room at the Huntsman Cancer Institute even though we, Karen (daughter visiting from Schaumburg, Illinois) and me were late leaving home because of a power failure just before we tried to open the upper garage door. Releasing the lock on the opener did not allow us to lift the door so we had to go down and use the pickup stored in the lower garage where opening the door after releasing the lock was no problem. We got to the hospital right at 8:30 and into the registration lobby at about 8:33. There were 2 patients waitng, but I was taken in for vitals soon and my Velcade shot was ready as soon as the vitals were finished and we exited the Infusion Room at 9:00. But then we waited at the pharmacy for a single drug refill for about 40 minutes. The construction crew working on the extension to the hospital is making amazing progress and we went up to the 6th floor to better observe their work and didn't get home until after 10:30. The power had been restored only about 10 minutes earlier.

I continue to feel good and walked around the block on my way to bring in the newspaper this morning more comfortably than I have done for many months. I had only walked yesterday thus far this week because I fell on the deck Saturday and had a very painful bruise on my right leg. The effects of the fall are essentially gone, except for a large dark bruise on the left side of the right leg; Perhaps I have a bone bruise.

Emma has adjusted to the CellCept that Dr. Hull prescribed to replace the Tetracycline she started taking to control the blistering on her leg. The listed side effects for the CellCept are about the same as those for the Tetracycline but she does not experience them to the same extent and has not had any nausea with the new drug. She is more energetic than I am but does tire if she trys to do too much. She has managed to wash the outside of quite a few of the main floor windows and is anxious to get her loaned out extension pole back so she can tackle some of the upper floor windows.
