I was awakened at 7:00 AM this morning by loud noises coming from the south and when I went for a walk around 8:00 I found a 4-man crew at the site of the broken culvert. The steel plates that covered the large hole in the street had been removed and one of the workers was trying to expose the utility lines so that the mechanical excavator would not damage the lines. The other three workers leaned on their shovels and offered encouragement. Just after noon the excavator was started up and a large dump truck was on site to accept the waste material.
