Yesterday promised to be a long day at the clinic because I was to have a Velcade shot and an Aredia infusion after the meeting with Dr. Tricot, which didn't start until about 10 minutes after 11:00. But the nurses in the infusion room determined that the Aredia infusion would take 4 hours or more and that would require someone to stay after 5:00. I was happy to have it postponed until next Monday, but even so I didn't leave the clinic until 1:00.
Dr. Tricot followed his usual procedure, which involves questioning me about aches and pains and general well-being and then a physical examination of my breathing, heart action, feeling my for stomach and chest for lumps, and then tests of strength in my legs and arms. He asked me if I get short of breathe and I told him usually only after completing my walk around the block the last segment of which is up a rather steep incline. He then asked if I thought that I could walk as much as a mile on flat ground and I told him I was sure I could because the walk around the block is about 7 tenths of a mile with some other uphill segments. He doesn't comment on most of these tests but I can expect to read about them in my copy of his letter to the oncologist who referred me to the Huntsman Hospital. That is where I have to look for the results of the MRI and the bloodwork, but he did say in response to a question from Nancy that the Myeloma markers that he watches are doing what he expected. And he said that I will continue on the same medication and the same schedule that I have been on since December and he wants to see me again after I have completed 3 more 28-day maintenance cycles.
