Yesterday I went to the BMT clinic fully especting an Aredia infusion, which would last either 2 hours or 4 hours depending on some elements reported in the blood, but after waiting an inordinate time during each step of the process to reach the Velcade injection I was informed that the schedule for the Aredia infusions had been changed from once every 4 weeks to once every 6 weeks. This was a surprise because Dr. Tricot had reminded me last Tuesday that I was due for an Aredia infusion. The nurse said that there seems to be some concern about the effect of the Aredia on my kidneys and that accounts for the change in frequency, which I assume must have been approved by Dr. Tricot. I continue to feel good and also continue to have no stamina so that I cannot engage in any physical activity without having to rest for much longer than the activity took.
Emma is recovering nicely from her fall. We went to see Dr. Kuo on Friday expecting him to take out the sutures, but he could only see one of them and did not want to look for others in the scab on her lip so told her to come back in about 10 more days. The discoloration that started around her eye and slowly spread down her cheek is nearly gone and she is now able to drink from a glass or cup without needing to use a straw. The antibiotics that she took until Thursday morning probably cleared up the infection in her bladder, which probably accounted for the fainting leading to the fall, because she no longer complains about any abdomen pains.
