Allergy acting up

Another routine visit to the BMT clinic today, but I was surprised by the reaction to my cold symptoms, which have included a cough since early this morning. A year ago I went to the clinic with a cough and drainage from my nose and told the nurses that I thought I was coming down with a cold. They then got quite excited and started several tests to determine whether I did indeed have a cold. Finally Dr. Tricot looked at me and prescribed an Albuterol inhaler with a limit of one refill and an over-the-counter inhaler both of which I used until exhausted and started feeling better almost immediately. I then remembered that I have had an allergic reaction to rabbit brush pollen this time of the year for as long as I can remember and decided that Dr. Tricot had hit on the correct diagnosis. I thought the reaction to my symptoms this morning would be similar, but I was told that Abby would not prescribe Albuterol for me until there was more evidence that I needed it and that I should take Claritin and cough drops. I have been taking Claritin since last Thursday with no obvious improvement, but the pharmacist at Smith's told me that the effect of the Claritin is cumulative and it would eventually help with the allergy. There is no rabbit brush around here, but the pharmacist said that many shrubs and grasses are seeding now and there are lots of things in the air that can cause allergic reactions.

Emma had the last of her stitches removed Saturday and after resting until this morning she feels so good that she has been out trimming shrubs and sweeping up debris from the walk and driveway this afternoon. I try to help in a limited way, but she doesn't want much help and I don't have much help to offer.
