Yesterday's visit to the BMT clinic should have been short and sweet(?) because there was no crowd at all and there was no blood drawn so the Velcade shot was given before 11:00 AM and I could have left except I had to wait for prescriptions to be signed and delivered and didn't get away from the clinic until about noon.
When I returned from the clinic yesterday and also last week Emma asked me if I had learned what Dr. Tricot's plan or plans might be. She asks because I received a letter from the Huntsman Cancer Institute on the 10th or 11th that informed me that as of February 2012 Dr. Tricot will be leaving to pursue other interests. The letter named 2 other doctors that will provide clinical support while they conduct an international search to identify a new Director for the Myeloma Program. This news disturbed me very much because I have developed a lot of confidence in Dr. Tricot and quite like him even though I only see him once every 3 months. I am scheduled to see him again a week from today at which time I expect him to follow through on his promise to take me off chemo for 3 months unless the Myeloma markers spike during that 3 month period.
I had to get up early again this morning in order to get to the Univ. of Utah hospital for a 9 AM appointment at the Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT) clinic. I learned that my hearing is more-or-less normal for an old codger; somewhat better in my right ear and I don't hear high pitches. No clue as to how this might cause dizzy spells.
