My visit to the BMT clinic Monday was brief because it was not crowded and no blood was drawn so I did not have to wait for results before receiving the Velcade infusion. I was interested in learning what the bloodwork from April 1 showed and asked Oliver for a printout, which he said we would get for me, but he was busy when I was ready to leave so I left having forgotten my request to Oliver. I now find that if I don't do something immediately after thinking about doing it it doesn't get done. I blame this memory loss on the cancer treatment, but friends, and family, tell me I should blame it on advancing age. Dr. Zangari had told me that they would determine from the regular bloodwork whether I could continue on the new schedule of reduced amounts of Velcade and taking 2 weeks off after 4 visits. I notice reduced stamina now after having gone back on Velcade for two infusions, but the reduced neuropathy continues and I engage in so little strenuous activity that the reduction in stamina hardly matters.
Emma has been telling me for a long time that I could find fun ways to reduce my pot belly at the Cottonwood Recreation Center where she goes for her aquasize classes and when she got a notice in the mail that they were having an orientation social for Silver Sneakers on April 9 she insisted that I attend, by myself, because she had to play bridge. We can participate in these programs at no cost because Humana provides us with a membership. I was photographed by the receptionist and provided with a new membership card and then conducted on a tour by Stephanie, one of the instructors. She suggested several low impact activities that probably would help tone my muscles and, perhaps, reduce the pot. I expect that I will start going maybe even at the same time that Emma goes, but probably for some activity other than aquasize.
