I received a call Friday from the BMT clinic telling me to be at Clinic 1A at 10:00 AM Monday for an Echo cardiogram followed by an EKG when I report to the Infusion Room. Then remembered Mary had told me last Tuesday that she thought I should have these tests and she would order them, but didn't tell me when to expect them. While talking to her Tuesday I mentioned a sudden sharp pain that I had experienced during the night a couple of weeks ago that felt like an electrical shock, which was brief but strong enough to awaken me. And then told her about talking to Dr. Kuo quite some time ago about strange light pulses that I sometimes feel in my left chest. Dr. Kuo told me that these are electrical pulses but were of no real consequence. I expect Mary thought these, particularly that sharp pain, should be investigated.
The Echo cardiogram took almost a full hour and was interesting in that I could watch the monitor while lying on my left side, but not while on my back (short time). The technician said the results would go to a cardiologist, but didn't tell me how to get in touch with him. I may have to use MyChart to get results, which has proven to be impossible for me. The damn program thinks it is smarter than me and I don't know how to disabuse it of that notion.
I got to the registration desk in the BMT clinic just after 11:00 and then waited in the outside hallway waiting area until Laurie came to take me for weighing and then to chair number 4 in the Infusion Room for the rest of my vitals. She called a technician to come do an EKG on me while I sat in the chair and then told me that she would wait to put the line in my port until the Velcade was delivered and would then take the line out as soon as that infusion was completed and I would be able to leave. I had given Jennifer a note that I needed a refill of one of my prescriptions and she said she would call it in to the pharmacy, but as I was leaving the registration area she saw me and said she had gotten busy and not made the call, but would do so immediately. The prescription had not been filled when I reached the pharmacy, but was done soon after and I could leave to accomplish my assorted tasks before getting home to share my lunch sandwich with Emma.
