The early start this morning did not translate to prompt service and an early departure for home; it was after 12:00 before the Velcade was prepared and ready for my infusion. I asked several of the nurses and the girl at the admittance desk why I was directed to come early and none gave me a reason. Laurie told me to ask at the front desk as I left whether they had arbitrarily changed my on-going schedule to 930 instead of 10:00, but I forgot about that until after I got home. I have to get up too early if I have to get there by 9:30 or even earlier as I had to do when I was undergoing the chemotherapy back in 2009, which is why we moved into the guest housing for about 3 weeks.
Everybody that walked by my chair wanted to know how I got my black eye and none would believe that it was the result of a bar fight. Those who knew my history of falls in the yard suspected that it was from another fall and, of course, they were right. On Friday afternoon I had started to prune a large elderberry shrub growing near the southwest corner of the house. I had used my trekking poles to get in place to work on the bush, but when I went toward the steps where the cut branches were lying I had both poles in one hand and the pruner in the other and stumbled over a rock, or stump, and smacked my head against a scrub oak tree. It left a bump on my temple with a small cut, which caused blood to stream down the side of my face, but which was halted by a band aid with some Neosporin. I had no other ill effects such as a headache, Which was something that PA, Mary Steinbach, asked about after Laura asked her to come look at my eye, Mary told me that the Echo gram from last Monday was normal in all respects except it showed some calcification in one of the valves, but not enough to be concerning. She printed the report on the Echo gram from the doctor and said that the EKG also was normal, but could not be printed.

Hi Ron.....
ReplyDeleteAlways good to hear that you feel well enough to complain. I told you that those yards would kill us....be careful! I know that we can't keep from cutting and pruning, but we aren't as agile as we used to be.
I sincerely hope that you and Emma are feeling well. Paul and Shari were here for a few days.....more like at Smith and Edwards for a few days, but they left on Sunday. We had a great time...kept me moving. I'm going in today for an ECHO on my heart. If things get dull, all you have to do is say to your doctor....I've had pain in my chest with shortness of breath. All Hell breaks out, and everyone wants to cure you of something that hasn't even been diagnosed yet. And, the prescriptions they order could kill quickly. So, I'm hoping that this is the last test for THE MONTH. Cripes!
Thinking of you...
hugs,
Peggy
