Surprise: Day one of cycle 21 started today instead of on the first Monday, September 1, which happened to be our 64th wedding anniversary

I was a couple of minutes late reaching the clinic this morning because the pickup truck would not start this morning after I had told Emma that I would take it so that she could use the Lexus for her activities.  The battery was completely dead and it took about seven minutes to effect the change.  I was asked how my day had started and I said "very poorly because of a dead battery."  Nobody else asked me anything about the 20 day"vacation" that had just been completed and I was anxious to let the clinic staff know that we had "celebrated" the anniversary yesterday.  I also wanted to tell them about our trip to Longmont, CO, last week that we got home from about 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

We went to Longmont in the pickup truck taking 2 days to drive each way in order to take 2 mountain bikes that had been hanging in our garage for 20 years and only taken out for a trip to Island Park in August 2000 for use in a family celebration of our fiftieth wedding anniversary.  The bicycles had belonged to Justin's parents and had been left in our care by one of the son-in-laws who suggested that other members of the extended Dituri family might come to Utah and appreciate having them to use, which never happened.

The anniversary celebration started with brunch at Nancy's home where all the Swinyards had gathered and where Daniel called from Afghanistan and talked to all nine of us in attendance.  We were wished a happy 64th anniversary by all and many photographs were taken.  I even tried to take some with my flip-up cell phone, but I probably can't print them or transfer them to my computer until Daniel gets home to help, which looks to be in mid October.  We later entertained Roger for margaritas and hors d'ouvers and were somewhat disappointed in his refusal to spend the night, but that probably was for the best inasmuch as I was due at the BMT clinic this morning at 10:00 AM.

The clinic visit took much longer than I had expected because the BMT clinic has recently stared using a new computer program and they are slowly learning its peculiarities.  I was scheduled to see a PA and for a blood draw and a Velcade infusion.  The pharmacy knew all this and would not prepare the Velcade until the analysis of the blood was completed and until the PA had confirmed that I was to have Velcade.  I was told by my nurses as I was ready to leave that the PA's confirmation was for today's infusion and for the next three to come, which was some small consolation for my long wait. They did prepare a ham sandwich for my lunch, which I took home to share with Emma and console her for not being able to use the Lexus.
