Traffic in to the Huntsman Hospital traveled not impacted by last week's storm; wet roads in places, but only from melting snow piled along edges and otherwise dry with no splashing on windshield. The parking garage was quite full and I parked as far away from the elevators as I have ever had to park. I have taken to carrying a cane for assistance on the long walks and it was particularly useful this morning. I expected a crowd in the clinic and this was confirmed in the hallway waiting area, but not so much at the registration desk or in the Infusion Room once I reached it.
I was registered by a young man that had not been there when I last visited the clinic on December 15 who sent me to the outside waiting area. And after waiting about 15 or 20 minutes a nurse came to take me in to have a line placed in my port and to draw 2 vials of blood. I have seen her around a few times but she had never worked on me and her name tag was upside down so I couldn't learn her name until I could ask Camille as I waited for the Velcade an hour or more later to find that her name is Sarah. She was very efficient and I asked if she would be taking my vitals but she sent me back out to wait for a nurse's aide to take me to an exam room for a visit with an P.A . The young aide whom I had not seen before took me to a scale to be weighed and said I did not need to take my boots off for weighing so I asked her if she intends to measure my height and when she said that she would I told her the measurement might show I had grown nearly 2 inches since the last measurement. I had not grown and only gained a pound or so.
My other vitals were taken in the exam room where Bethany was waiting to quiz me on my health and medications and then we waited for the P. A. who turned out to be Mary instead of Amanda. Mary asked if I about any falls I might have taken since I was last at the clinic and I was able to tell her no that I had not but that I continue to have pain in my left knee that was injured when I had a fall the evening after Thanksgiving. The pain is only felt when I try to turn over or get in or out of bed and the pain is rather low level but it has persisted for well over a month. She asked if I had seen any body about the pain and when I said I had not she said she would have me scheduled for a visit to the University Orthopedic Center.
