When Craig took my blood pressure today it was the highest that it has ever been; 145 over 74, usually it will be around 120 over 57 to 60. Perhaps not abnormally high by ordinary standards but of some concern to me. Possible reasons for the high reading are the strong rainstorm and wet roads driving in, the 50 minute wait in the hallway waiting area after checking in, and the apparent mix-up in my on-going schedule, which shows no time off following the present 4-week schedule. This mix-up has bothered me for several days so much Friday night that thinking about it and wondering how to correct it kept me awake for so long that I eventually took a 5mg Ambien and didn't wake up until after 9:00 Saturday morning.
This storm was predicted by Lindsay Storrs, the channel 2 weekend weather forecaster, but she said it would be rain in the late morning not enough to affect the commute and changing to snow in the afternoon with perhaps 2 to 4 inches accumulation on the benches. I have learned not to expect perfection; the rain going in this morning had ice in some drops and coming back had changed to heavy wet snow by the time I reached the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon. There was slush on Golden Hills ave. and some in our lower driveway, but the snowstorm had ended by the time I got up stairs to see some accumulation (a half inch or less) on our deck.
I saw Craig in the registration lobby on my way in and told him that I have a serious bone to pick with Jason who was my last patient coordinator as far as I knew about my schedule. He said he would let someone know about my grievance, but probably didn't. While Robin was getting ready to give me the Velcade infusion I thought I could hear Jason talking to the patient in the next chair and when he walked past the opening in the curtain around my chair I called to tell him about the bad schedule, he said he is no longer my coordinator but would send my coordinator to talk to me. Later Franceska came to tell me she is Dr. Atanackovic's patient coordinator and offered to help me. I showed her the schedule that calls for me to be at the clinic on Tuesday February 3 and again on the 9th for the appointment with Dr, Atanackovic. She left and after awhile came back to tell me there should be another 4-week cycle after the one I am now on before seeing the doctor. She will prepare another schedule, one more to my liking and e-mail it to me in the next few days. I left mollified; taking my sandwich to share with Emma but she is feeling poorly and did not want to eat.
Following up on my clinic visit last Monday; I have been called by the Univ. of Utah Orthopedic Center with an appointment to be there tomorrow at 11:00 with my insurance card, picture ID, and copay prior to seeing Dr. Willet at 11:15 because of my telling Mary about the persistent low-level pain in my left knee. She had asked if we had ever been visited by Home Health Care and I told her that we had but I could not remember when or what supplier it might have been. She evidently issued an order for such a visit and I was called by Jessica a RN who is with VALEO Home Health and Hospice about a visit and she showed up Wednesday afternoon with a folder of information and wanted to schedule another visit for tomorrow at 10:00 AM. I had momentarily forgotten about the appointment at the Orthopedic Center and had to call her much later to tell her some other time.
