Near six-hour session at the BMT clinic today

I was a few minutes late for my appointment at the BMT clinic this morning because of very slow traffic along Foothill Boulevard.  There was some sort of work being done on the east side of the boulevard between 2100 So. and 13th So. and 2 lanes of heavy traffic had to work the way around the work in a single lane.  The heavy traffic did not seem to be related to the University because as soon as I got beyond 800 So. the traffic was normal.  I only waited about 10 minutes after registering when Kristy came to take me for weighing and then to the Infusion Room where I was seated in the extension, but Chair # 2 opened before she was ready to put  a line in my port.  My nurse for the day was to be Laurie and Kristy was just helping her.  Laurie told me that both the Velcade  and Aredia had been ordered and I shouldn't have to wait long, but I did wait until almost 11:00 before she hung up the Aredia and then didn't start the infusion for quite some time. The result was that the infusion took until after 3:30 followed by the infusion of the Velcade and I wasn't ready to leave the Hospital until almost 4:00 and didn't get home until about 4:30 because of a need to go by a Post Office.

The bruises on my cheeks below each eye still attracted anxious questions as to how I got them and I finally had to start telling the truth about the surgery that I had under gone on April 10th and that I would be seeing Dr. Harris tomorrow for a follow up visit.  My vision is much improved as a result of the surgery and I think that when the healing is complete I may be able to read without the benefit of my glasses.  I can do so now for short periods but I still see what look like shadows beside many letters, which the glasses remove, but the effect doesn't last very long.  I had my grandson take pictures of my face when he was here last Saturday, which I intended to download into the blog so that all of my followers could see how I look but I couldn't get the pictures into a program where the blogspot program could access them.  He is too busy with his school program to spend time helping me with my computer problems.
