Today is the mid-point of the current maintenance cycle and I had been asked to come in at 8:30 instead of 9:00 because the clinic gets crowded at 9:00. I expected the student traffic to the University of Utah to be heavy this morning so left a few minutes before 8:00 and still didn't get to the clinic until 8:35; with light traffic we can make the trip in 20 minutes. Thursday morning when I go in for just a Velcade shot I will leave at least 10 minutes earlier. This morning the nurse collected blood for a determination of the Myeloma markers, but when I asked for a printout I learned that the analysis for the markers isn't reported for 3 days. I have to wait until the normal blood work is completed before they give me the Velcade shot, but I don't know what elements in my blood they monitor before giving the Velcade; they may determine the volume of the Velcade based on the blood work, but they don't do blood work on Thursdays and have never failed to give me a Velcade shot whether on Monday or Thursday. So it remains a mystery.
Emma is feeling so good that she is hosting her Tuesday bridge club tomorrow for the first time in many months. There are only 8 members in the club and they play twice a month so her accident has kept her inactive (as host) for a long time. She did go to one session at another home last month when one of the other gals picked her up. The preparations today did tire her and she spent much of the evening with her leg up watching the Jazz demolish the Miami Heat.
