Nick England, patient coordinator, has put together a schedule for me that I find quite unsatisfactory. I went in at 11:45 today; will go at 11:00 next Monday and at 2:00 the Monday after that. I have told him that I think my nearly 5 years of going in at 10:00 each Monday morning should give me some seniority and that I should not be subjected to such an arbitrary and almost random schedule. He implored me to put up with it during October and he would try to produce something going forward more to my liking and I accepted this, but I am not happy about it.
I left home at 11:00 because of possible traffic problems on Foothill Blvd due to a water main break Friday evening, but found traffic moving smoothly and arrived at the clinic at 11:35. After registering I waited in the outside hallway for just a few minutes and then Chris, a nurse I had never seen before, took me in to draw some blood and then called for Bethany to take me for vitals and then to an exam room for a meeting with Andrea. I had told Bethany about intermittent pains I have had in my left hip ever since our trip to Cedar City 2 weeks ago for me to celebrate my birthday with Emma and Roger at the Shakespeare fall session on September 30; Andrea questioned me about these pains and concluded that I should have an x-ray before going home, which she would examine and then call me tomorrow if it was abnormal. I was then seated in the Infusion Room to await the results of the blood work and a Velcade infusion. It was a long wait because of some mix up in signatures on the request for Velcade and Laurie didn't start the infusion until after 3:00 and while she was doing this Nancy called to tell me that Daniel who had been in Afghanistan since March would be arriving at the SLC airport at 4:12 and I should go directly to the airport from the clinic because she was picking Emma up. So I completely forgot about the x-ray and will have to call Andrea tomorrow to explain.
