Hectic and frustrating last Monday of the cycle number 24 at the BMT clinic yesterday

I told Emma before I left home yesterday morning that it would be a short day inasmuch as there would be no blood drawn and a resulting wait, but I might have to wait for the Velcade infusion because they don't order it until they see me coming and sometimes the order needs to be signed and a qualified signer can be hard to find.  How little I knew about time and timing.

I was greeted at the registration desk by the usual registrar who has seen me so many times that she now knows who I am.  I saw her name tag for the first time and learned her name is Nancy so I told her about my daughter Nancy and she told me she has a son named Charles; it was almost like a family reunion.  She sent me out to wait in the hallway and nurse Robin soon came to take me in for weighing.  I must have said some thing about a short visit and she said "oh no! you are due for a four hour Aredia infusion in addition to your Velcade."  I told her that I wished I had known this earlier because I had told my wife I would be home early and it did not show up on the new schedule that Francesca had sent to MyChart for me.  That schedule was incomplete in other ways, which I showed her and she promised to call Francesca about the schedule.

Robin took me in to the Infusion Room and seated me in chair #5 and finished my vitals where she found my blood pressure to be 130/71; still somewhat elevated perhaps because of my frustrations with my schedule or schedules.  Robin then hunted up the necessary supplies and placed a line in my port.  She then found the Aredia pouch to hang and get the infusion started at nearly 11:00 for a four-hour infusion.  Emma had reminded me to take my cellphone so I was able to call and tell her not to expect me home for lunch and that it might be quite late because I intended to take the motor from my table top sanding device in to Stevens Electric Motor for promised repairs.  Robin called Francesca about my schedule and learned she was busy with a patient but that she would come see me later. The Aredia infusion wasn't finished until after 3:00 and then I was given the Velcade infusion and after the line was removed I was free to go.

Francesca did come to see me just before I was ready to leave and she had a new schedule in the style that I like, but I noticed that day-one of cycle #25 begins at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 17, 2015, instead of on Monday.  She said this is because of many activities on Monday and that the only time an exam room could be made available for the PE visit was Tuesday afternoon.  The rest of the cycle #25 schedule seems reasonable even though I am scheduled to go in at noon on March 9 for Vekcade followed by a visit with Dr. Atanackovic at 1:45.  It seems the doctor visits always take priority over everything else.

I did go to Stevens Electric Motor by way of Interstate 80 and 15 after leaving the BMT clinic and found the traffic to be manageable.  Richard examined the motor and told me it was not damaged by my rough treatment and only needed the set screws to be tightened more to hold the disk solidly in place and there would be no charge.  The day had been so active and so late when I did get home I decided to postpone posting to the blog until after "happy hour" and dinner, but the the Jazz game started and it was so dismal I couldn't bring myself to the computer.  Sorry about that.
